When Pigs Fly

Ever heard this expression?

Well it's a great way to express when something might be impossible.

At Christ Central Alachua, I was able to witness the story of two people who, against all odds, became "the flying pigs".  Each of them had wrecked their lives and was a mess.  But when they came to themselves, as the bible points out in the prodigal son parable in Luke 15:17

Need inspiration? Pigs can fly

What's possible?

Jesus replied, “What is impossible for people is possible with God.”
Luke 18:27

Addictions seem impossible. But WITH GOD it becomes possible.
An interesting part of their story is the progression. Some people believe that miracles have to be spontaneous in order for it to be "true miracle"
There are several examples in scriptures where progression occurred during a healing or a time when faith was exercised over something before it fully manifested.

Jesus curses a fig tree

Mark 11:12-21

12 The next morning as they left Bethany, he felt hungry. 13 A little way off he noticed a fig tree in full leaf, so he went over to see if he could find any figs on it. But no, there were only leaves, for it was too early in the season for fruit.

14 Then Jesus said to the tree, “You shall never bear fruit again!” And the disciples heard him say it.

20 Next morning, as the disciples passed the fig tree he had cursed, they saw that it was withered from the roots! 21 Then Peter remembered what Jesus had said to the tree on the previous day and exclaimed, “Look, Teacher! The fig tree you cursed has withered!”

(It occurred over a period of time.)

Ten healed of leprosy

 Luke 17:11

11 As Jesus continued on toward Jerusalem, he reached the border between Galilee and Samaria. 12 As he entered a village there, ten lepers stood at a distance, 13 crying out, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
14 He looked at them and said, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed of their leprosy.

Lazarus brought back

44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with grave clothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.”

Lazarus was wrapped tight in the grave clothes from the burial process. He was rescued from death but needed assistance from the grave clothes.

We have the responsibility to help assist the ones that are coming back out of death, the ones who are still wrapped in its chains, of helping them get out of the old "grave clothes" off them.
The experience of accepting Jesus as savior and being made a new creation is an spontaneous act. But, just as a baby, you will need to grow. You've been given a new heart but we live in a physical body with a mind that will have to be renewed daily.
Mark 4:14 says The Word of God is like a seed sown.  It starts just as small seed.
It's at first a small thing.  Yet it has within itself to produce mighty things that can't even be seen yet.  Let it grow.

It's a process but it is still a miracle.  It's like the seed that's been planted. It can produce. Allow it to grow from within. There are no limits on the end potential.

Pigs can certainly fly when GOD makes the possible!
